It's a heat wave!

Today is day 11 of the heat wave, or so the news says. I personally think it has been hot for longer than that, and with next week being in the upper 80s, I am not sure that will be much cooler. But, at least it is sunny and warm and not cold. Did you catch that storm yesterday?! It was pretty neat, the kind of summer storm that I really enjoy, hot and muggy, the rain moves in and out in a hurry and cools the place down. It was a complete difference after the storm than before the storm.  We were at a birthday/4th of July party, so I wasn't sure what had happened at home, the only thing I could noticed was that we lost power. But, nothing a little resetting of the clocks can't fix.

Earlier yesterday morning, I ran with my BCR peeps. I am glad that had moved the start time to 7am, because it was a scorcher even that early. I really think that my work at the gym is paying off because I ran 4 miles without pain.  And it wasn't like I ran them slow, I had Bob pace me at a faster pace to get me out of a rut. He paced me at 10 min/mile and I was able to hold that pace for 2 miles.  It wasn't that I physically couldn't do it, but cardiovascular wise I was spent. My lungs felt like they were going to explode. A month off of running like I used totally killed my cardiovascular fitness. While I felt like I couldn't go anymore, I made sure not to walk, I just slowed my pace down a little bit. It feels great to know that I CAN run 10 min/miles. And Now I know..

To work more on my cardiovascular tank, I will be working with Bob on steps and something like strides. Not sure what the strides entail, but I am sure sticking with him will help me achieve my goals. I will be talking with Flo, who just happens to be a Beachbody coach, about doing speed work with me, to also help with my time goals.

Anyway, today I attempted a sock bun. I am not sure how I found this idea, but I am glad I did. Here is my attempt this morning at it...
Stay cool, stay hydrated
Have a great Sunday!

Long overdue Update

SO, I know it seems like ages since I blogged. Yes, I know it has. So, here are some stats from her last doctor's appt. She went to the doctor's and weighed in at 20.8 pounds, and 28 inches tall. She had 2 shots and her one oral vaccine. She handled it like a champ! She was given the go ahead to eat fruits and vegetables (although she has been eating them since she was 5 months old). We have now introduced white meats, eggs, and fruit juice! She hasn't really met a food she doesn't like, which I am happy about because her father is a PICKY eater. She has mastered rolling over, and has started crawling. In the last couple days she is getting better at it, and when she doesn't get to where she wants to get fast enough, she will roll there. It's actually quite funny. You can see how proud of herself she is when she gets to her destination. She HATES being stuck inside, and I believe my daily walks are as much for her as for me. Oh, and swimming. She LOVES it and would stay in a pool all day if I let her. Which, is great considering the family I come from. And, if it this is a sign...family vacation will be a success! Well, from the pool aspect. I still have to see how she will do with the sand, and waves...so I will have to sneak away to the beach for the day. Yeah, I need a vacation. That will happen soon...just a month more until I took a vacation. Nothing planned, just not working. Ok, back on track, this is about my sweet babes afterall. We started reading books again before she goes to sleep. We did it when she was first born, then she didn't like it for a while, and now we do it again. It makes me happy being able to read to her. I don't get to do it most of the time because I am at work, so I do cherish the moments we have together. Hopefully one day, she will realize how much I really do love her. Well, I better go. Tomorrow is another day, full of potential photo opportunities, adventures, and all that jazz.

It's Official...

The Hubs has enrolled in school. For the next 27 months he will be in class M-Th from 5:45-10 pm. He is going to school to be a Surgical Scrub Tech. He liked school when he went before, and now with financial aid, it is only costing him $159/month (well until he is graduated anyway). His tuition includes EVERYTHING! I mean everything, books, uniforms, even a book bag. So, it is with great pride, that my Hubby is finally picking himself up, brushing himself off, and getting ready to make a change for him and our family. YayHubs! When you graduate in 27 months, your son or daughter will be able to watch you graduate!
So, what does that mean. It means that I will still be going on vacation with my family without him. It is important that I get away from stress of work and take a week to relax, while he gets to focus on school. He knows that I am behind him 100%, 1 million percent if he needs me to be. So, if you see him, or if you want, you can leave him encouragement on here, and I will pass it on to him. Good luck babe!

Saturday

So, I missed posting yesterday. Sorry. Let's recap the last 2 days shall we. On Thursday, after we went and saw the folks we went to visit a friend. Let's just say that after dinner I fell asleep on her couch so we went home. We got home around 9, where I passed out again and slept until Friday at 1130. 14 and a half hours of sleep! I guess I was really tired. Why...because at 3 pm on Friday I feel asleep for another 45 minutes. We got zero packing done, but I have off Monday so that is what Monday will be. No worries, we will get it all done. Work has been crazy busy, full one day not full the next. Hopefully things will just keep on keeping on. Oh, and I found a care package for my cousin Abbz, that I was supposed to mail her for finals. Yep, epic fail. I guess I can either mail it or wait til I see her. I hope nothing has gone bad in it. Guess that teaches me that when I get an idea in my head I should follow through before I forget. Aricept anyone? Anyway, hoping the weather gets nicer so it starts to feel like summer again. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
