Awesomeness

Those that know me, know that I work 3-11. There are many things about it that are worth it, I get the morning with Makayla, I get $0.75 shift differential.  However, things like family dinners, bedtime, snuggle time, Makayla night time stuff that I miss. So, when the job gave me an opportunity to have the day off, without hesitation, I said yes, it gave me the time to enjoy the awesome weather with Makayla, and then she went to day care so that I could go to the gym.  Lately, I have been feeling like I am stuck where I am with my weight loss so I know I need to embrace every chance I can get to move.  I also want to make sure that with the weather being so beautiful, I wanted to make sure that there would still be time to get outside and enjoy it, hopefully as a family. So, I jumped at the opportunity to make dinner and even dessert.  I was feeling like I wanted meatloaf, so when I found this recipe, I was excited to be able to try it out. I also made mixed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. All things, that I can't wait for Makayla to try. And for dessert, I found this recipe for cake mix cookies and let me just tell you, I CANNOT wait to taste them! I will let you know how they turn out...

Nap time

My daughter gets fussy without her naps. One could dare say that she is a brat when she is tired, but really, it isn't her fault. She gets tired, we all get tired, and then it is the battle of the wits. Today, however, nap time was a productive time for this mama. While my house remains a mess, and yes, it kills me that it is a mess, I took the time to rearrange the entire living room. See, our current apartment is kind of a money pit. The windows in the apartment leak, so I feel like we are throwing our money out of them. My husband had the living room arranged so that our sofa was in front of the heater, hence blocking the heat from coming out into the living room. Have no fear, I moved all of it today, BY MYSELF. It does feel a little backwards, but at the same time, it feels like the stuff is actually in a place where it belongs. I even vacuumed the entire living room, something that I am sure has not happened in A.LONG.LONG time. Anyway, it already feels warmer in here (no, I did not touch the thermostat) and now, just some things need to go to storage and I think it will look like a home again. Guess I am not as sore today as I was last Sunday, using the rolling pin really helped! Now, to pack my bag and head to the gym. I hope you all have a great Monday!

On this day...

I married by best friend.

One year ago, Penguin and I tied the knot. It was exactly 3 years that day that we were dating. It was the happiest day of my life. I felt absolutely beautiful.

It has been a great year, although I can't believe it has only been a year. Wow how much has changed. I can't say I pictured us to be where we are today, but this woman has no complaints. It has been an interesting ride, but a ride I wouldn't change for the world. For better or for worse, thick and thin, you are the person that I know will always be there for me. When the world seems to be pissing on me, I know I can count on you to grab the urinal ;)

You are my best friend. You always bring out the best in me, and always make me smile. You make me feel like I am always young at heart. You make me forget about the stresses in life, and I feel safest when I am in your arms. I know I can always count on you to make me smile.

As we begin the next year of our life, I know that it is going to bring us great changes. Our daughter will always see the love we have for each other, and while it will not always be roses, there has to be a thorn now and then to protect the roses, and to slow us down so that we savor the moments. So, not only today, but everyday, I want you to know how much I love you and how much you mean to me. You are my one and only Yankee (wink, wink). Thanks for a great year, here's to many many more.

So, we did it

SO, today Penguin registered for his first college classes. Starting Jan 12th, the igloo is going to be completely different. Penguin has class everyday except for Fridays and the weekend so now he will have something else to do to pass the time. Even I got in the class spirit. Since I am still waiting to hear if I got into grad school, I thought of doing something productive. So, while Penguin is taking classes to start his career, I am taking classes to umm...start mine? Nahh, I am taking a photography class because well what a better way to truly value an awesome camera is to take a class on how to take photos. Not really sure what I am going to be learning, but it seems fun and interesting, and I thought why the heck not. Anyway, not much else going on here in the igloo. Penguin has been cleaning up the house since I stopped asking him to help and well actually, the place is kinda awesome now. We are slowly getting more organized and maybe one day before our lease is up, it will actually look like people live here.
